Plea for Spring!

Where are you? Enough of the rain and the cold.

Gotta love Spag Bol!

We love it in our house and it has been one of my healthier cravings - alongside salt and vinegar crisps, cheese and chip shop chips. Just YUM right now. But also very BAD.  I've loved watching George eat spaghetti since he was baby led weaned at 6 months old. He loved clumsily shovelling the pasta into his mouth and the novelty hasn't really worn off.

We had a lovely weekend with my parents. George adores all of his Grandparents. No matter how much or little children see of their grandparents there is such a beautiful bond.

Valentine Lurrrve

Happy Valentine's day!  Not that hubby or I are really into the commercial cheese of the day but I'll never be one to turn my nose up at some beautiful flowers (see above - I just love these gorgeous bright cerise Gerberas - the boy did well!) and a box of chocs.  I also treated myself to a manicure at the weekend (my first since just before George was born) and some gorg 'BIG LOVE' Emma Bridgewater tea towels - sneakily wrapped around placemats at yesterday's dinner party!

Sadly Mr G got home too late for any cooking so I had pre-prepared (รก la Blue Peter) some parmesan plaice goujons, buttery potatoes, corn and asparagus.

George was in a loving mood today and as we laid down for his lunctime sleep he spent 5 minutes kissing my face and saying 'love you too mummy'. This was clearly just a ploy to avoid the inevitable zzzzzz's but it was much preferred to his normal tactic of jumping on my head :-). Love you more handsome boy.

Valentines Dinner Party

My big sis, hubby and very gorgeous nephew came round for Roast Shoulder of lamb with minted gravy, roast potatoes, parsnips and steamed veggies. Rather yummy with just a slight over-cooking on the potatoes but made up for with crispiness. That's my valentines cooking done - wondering what hubby will come up with for tomorrow?

The cousins are a year apart and it is SO cute to seem them playing together! A good afternoon is always rounded off but some bathtimes fun.

I love holidays!

We are recently returned from a family and friends holiday in Dubai.  Holidays are the best. George always seems to develop the most when he has been away with his mummy and daddy for a week or two.  He learnt his alphabet, discovered a love of sardines, swam for metres underwater and built the best sandcastles on the beach - as well as improving his flirtation skills with our friend's gorgeous girls.

We love a holiday cuddle - nothing feels better on the skin than a bit of sun and a beautiful sleeping baby.

So why the blog?

I won't dwell too much on this as my blog is to keep me on the straight and narrow with the good stuff. Last year I suffered two miscarriages and with each a little bit of me died too. My fire went out.

People, new places, good wine, delicious food and living the moment with a sparkle in my eye has always been my way.  These days nothing fills my heart more than the sight of my son, the touch of his skin and the sound of his laughter. I found my place in the world the day he was born.
We now have number two finally on the way and Sarah's back. Hopefully for good.

This year I want to take a better photograph, cook better food and live every moment. And here is the place to witness my attempts, successes and undoubted failures .... here goes ....
